Privacy Policy

The Personal Information We Collect. Pike & Preston collects personal information about you and the members of your household to conduct business operations such as issue insurance policies, change policies, report claims, and otherwise provide customer service, offer new products and satisfy legal and regulatory requirements. We may collect the following information about you from these sources:

  • Information from you directly including information from applications, worksheets, questionnaires, claim forms or other documents (such as name, address, driver’s license number, social security number, and amount of coverage requested).
  • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others (such as products or services purchased, claims made, account balances and payment history).
  • Information from a consumer reporting agency (such as motor vehicle reports or credit scoring).
  • Information from other agents or insurance companies (such as prior loss information).

The Personal Information We Share. We may disclose the personal information we collect to service, process, or administer insurance policies and other business operations such as claims and for other purposes such as the marketing of products and services, regulatory compliance, the detection or prevention of fraud, or as otherwise required or allowed by law. These disclosures may be made without prior authorization from you, as permitted by law.

The Parties to Whom Information May be Disclosed. We will not disclose information about you to others without your written consent unless the disclosure is necessary to conduct our business. By law, we are permitted to share information about you without prior permission under certain circumstances to certain persons and organizations such as:

  • Parties who perform a business, professional or insurance function for our agency, including our insurance companies.
  • Claim adjusters, appraisers, investigators and attorneys who need the information to investigate, defend or settle a claim involving you.
  • Insurance support organizations that are established to collect information for the purposes of detecting and preventing insurance crimes and fraudulent claims.
  • Insurance regulatory agencies in connection with the regulation of our business.
  • Law enforcement or other governmental authorities to protect our legal interest or in cases of suspected fraud or illegal activities.
  • Authorized persons as ordered by subpoena, warrant or other court order or as required by law.
  • Lien holder, mortgagee, assignee, lessor or other person shown on our records or our agents’ as having a legal or beneficial interest in a policy of insurance.
  • Parties acting in a fiduciary or representative capacity to you (attorneys, accountants and auditors).
  • Parties administering transactions as requested or authorized by you.

Confidentiality and Security of Personal Information. At Pike & Preston we maintain appropriate standards and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to your information. We limit employee access to personally identifiable information to those with a business reason for knowing such information. We educate our employees so that they will understand the importance of the confidentiality of personal information and take appropriate measures to enforce privacy responsibilities.

Personal Health Information. Under certain circumstances we also collect personal health information about our customers, such as information regarding an illness, accident, disability or injury, for underwriting or claim purposes. We educate our employees so that they will understand the importance of the confidentiality of personal information and take appropriate measures to enforce privacy responsibilities.

Personal Information of Former Customers. The personal information privacy policy applies to former customers.

Changes in Privacy Policy. Pike & Preston may choose to modify this policy at any time. We will notify customers of any modifications at least annually.
